The ISCB student council's Regional Student Group Luxembourg was formed in August 2015 and was recognized by the University of Luxembourg Student Life office in February 2016 and as association sans but lucratif (a.s.b.l.) in April 2016.
Prior to the foundation of RSG Luxembourg, graduate students at the LCSB used to meet during the 'PhD peer club'. Although brief, the experience was quite successful during its six months of activity. Consequently, the club formed the first cell of RSG Luxembourg. Since then, the association developed its activities and reached a notable level of professionalism.
The membership is free and open to students and young professionals in computational biology from bachelor to postdoc level.
RSG Luxembourg members span the different institutes of the unique University of Luxembourg such as Luxembourg Center for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) and UL Life Science Research Unit (LSRU) but also independant institues such as Luxembourg Institue of Science and Technology (LIST) and Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH).
The different academic tracks actively covered by RSG Luxembourg are mainly the doctoral school in systems and molecular biomedicine (DS-SMB), the doctoral school in computer science and computer engineering (DS-CSCE), the master in integrated systems biology (MISB) and the master in computer sciences (MICS).
